Recent Investigations Completed | From 18–22 August 2025, essential overnight site investigations took place at Hillington Interchange, involving full closures on both sides of the carriageway. Diversions were set up via local roads: eastbound traffic exited at J26, rejoined via J24; westbound traffic exited at J25A, rejoined at J26. Emergency services maintained access throughout (traffic.gov.scot). |
Roadworks One Month Ahead | Drivers are being warned that from 8 September to 1 October, Phase 1 will introduce a contraflow on the eastbound carriageway, along with a full closure of the eastbound on-slip. A 40 mph speed limit and average-speed cameras will be in place. Noise-dampening measures are applied overnight (thescottishsun.co.uk). |
Real-Time Alerts via Waze App | To help navigate disruptions, motorists are encouraged to use the Waze app for real-time traffic conditions, routing updates, and incident alerts. Waze aggregates user-contributed data to help drivers avoid delays during the works (Waze). |
Why Waze Is Useful During the Project
-
Live Traffic Updates: Waze provides continuous updates, including delays, accidents, or unusual congestion.
-
Dynamic Rerouting: The app can instantaneously suggest faster routes around closures or slowdowns.
-
Speed & Safety Alerts: Particularly handy given the imposed 40 mph limit and average-speed cameras during works.
-
Crowd-Sourced Reports: Includes notifications about lane closures, hazards, or emergency access needs.
