Why A Campervan Is A Good Investment

Why A Campervan Is A Good Investment Paisley Autocare

Stuart Ross |

Perhaps you’ve got an idea that you might buy a campervan one day - maybe it’s one of your life goals, or maybe it’s just something that popped into your head when you read the title of this post. Either way, there are some excellent reasons why it’s a great idea and a good investment, and with that in mind, keep reading to find out more and make your dreams your reality.

You Travel On Your Own Terms

One of the biggest advantages of owning a campervan is the control you end up having because of it. After all, when you go travelling, you’re not stuck with hotel bookings or fixed plans - if you want to stay somewhere a bit longer, or try somewhere new on a whim, that’s exactly what you can do.

When you’ve got that kind of flexibility, it means that you’re going to feel a lot more relaxed when you’re going somewhere, whether it’s a quick weekend trip or a longer vacation. Whatever the reason you’re heading off, if you’re in a comfortable campervan, it can improve things massively.

It Can Save Money In The Long Run

Although there is going to be a pretty high initial cost, the fact is that a campervan can actually help you cut down on your ongoing travel expenses because you won’t have to pay for accommodation, flights, or even eating out quite so much (of course, it’s still nice to treat yourself to a good meal in a restaurant once in a while). If you all up all those savings, especially if you go on more than one trip a year, it’s going to be a big saving.

When you’ve got a campervan those costs are lower because your accommodation and transport are already sorted, plus you can cook in the campervan or park at a place that allows barbecues, for example, and you can cook your own food.

It Holds Its Value Well

Unlike a lot of other big purchases you might make (especially when it comes to vehicles), campervans can be a good investment because they often keep a decent portion of their value. That’s because they tend to be in demand more than cars are, and there are fewer of them on the market.

That means that when the time comes to sell your campervan, you’re highly likely to get a pretty reasonable return compared to other types of vehicles or other bigger purchases.

It Offers More Than Just Holidays

The great thing about campervans is that they’re not just limited to long trips - they can be used for weekends away, day trips, or even just as a good base for any of your outdoor activities, whatever they might happen to be.

When something is that versatile and you can use it for all sorts of different things and reasons, it makes it a lot easier to justify buying it in the first place - after all, you’ll know you’ll get your money’s worth because of all the use you’ll get out of it.

You Can Rent It Out

Something that you might not have thought about but that could be what sways you and help you make up your mind about investing in a campervan is that you can choose to rent it out when you’re not using it, and that can help offset the running costs and make the investment work a bit harder for you.

Of course, that is going to come with a lot of responsibility, and you’ll need to ensure you’re doing things legally and that you keep the campervan in good, roadworthy condition so it’s safe, but once you’ve got all that under control, it’s a very practical way to get more value from the vehicle.

It Encourages A Different Way Of Travelling

There’s just something about having everything with you that totally changes how you travel - you’re less focused on rushing around and ticking places, things, and activities off a list and you’re generally more inclined to take your time.

Although it can be fun to do a lot when you’re away from home, and it’s always going to be tempting to do as much as possible if you’re not sure you’ll be back, if you can go at a slower pace, it just makes your trips feel less stressful and more memorable, which is basically what you want from them in the end.

Ongoing Costs Are More Predictable

There are still costs to think about, of course, and that includes maintenance, fuel, insurance, and so on, but the good news is that they tend to be more predictable than if you were to always be booking different accommodation and travel options.

If you know what to expect, that makes budgeting a lot easier, so you’ll always know roughly what it’s going to cost you to do a trip, rather than having to price everything up and then potentially not be able to make it happen.

It Becomes Part Of Your Routine

For a lot of people, a campervan just becomes something they use on a regular basis rather than something that’s just for the occasional fun adventure, and that’s because it fits into everything like weekends, holidays, and everything in between.

That regular use is another great way to help justify the investment because it’s not going to be something that sits unused for ages and you start to worry that you shouldn’t have parted with the money in the first place.

It Gives You Options Later On

Another one of the many benefits that’s often overlooked is the flexibility it gives you in the future. For example, if your plans change or you decide it’s not the right option for you anymore, there’s usually still going to be a market for it.

Why is that important? It’s because it means it’s less of a big decision because you know that you can resell the campervan when you’re ready (if that’s ever something you want to do). You’ll feel more confident and be able to have more fun.
