Suzuki Swift Bodywork Repair in Paisley – From Damage to a Factory-Fresh Finish

Suzuki Swift Bodywork Repair in Paisley – From Damage to a Factory-Fresh Finish Paisley Autocare

Stuart Ross |

When a vehicle suffers damage across several panels, getting the finish right involves much more than simply covering the scratches with paint.

Our Paisley Autocare bodyshop in Paisley recently carried out extensive bodywork repairs to this red Suzuki Swift used by Young Driver. The vehicle arrived with damage and heavy scraping across several areas of the bodywork, including the doors, front wing and rear quarter.

Our bodyshop team repaired the damaged panels, carefully prepared the vehicle for refinishing and restored the paintwork to give the Swift a clean, professional finish once again.

The Damage

The Suzuki arrived at our workshop with significant cosmetic damage along the side of the vehicle.

Affected areas included:

  • Front wing damage and scraping
  • Front door damage
  • Rear door damage
  • Rear quarter panel damage
  • Scratches extending across multiple panels
  • Damage around the wheel arch
  • Paintwork requiring blending across adjoining panels

Because the damage extended across several sections of the vehicle, achieving a consistent finish required careful preparation and refinishing rather than treating each damaged area in isolation.

Preparing the Suzuki for Repair

Good paintwork starts with preparation.

Before any refinishing work was carried out, our bodyshop technicians worked through the damaged sections and prepared the panels for paint.

The repair process included removing or loosening trim where necessary, repairing damaged areas, sanding the panels and applying primer to the sections requiring refinishing.

The images from inside our paint preparation area show the amount of work that goes into a professional body repair before the final colour is applied.

The vehicle was then carefully masked to protect the windows, wheels, lights, trims and surrounding areas.

Professional Paint Preparation

One of the most important stages of any larger bodywork repair is making sure repaired areas cannot be seen once the vehicle has been painted.

Our technicians prepared the front wing, doors, rear quarter and adjoining sections so that the new paint could be blended correctly with the existing factory finish.

This helps avoid obvious differences between repaired and original panels.

Rather than concentrating only on the most visible scratches, the repair area was prepared properly to create a consistent finish across the side of the vehicle.

Into the Paint Booth

Once all panel repairs and preparation work were complete, the Suzuki was moved into our paint booth.

The surrounding sections of the vehicle were fully masked before the refinishing process began.

Correct preparation, colour matching, paint application and finishing are essential when working with metallic colours such as the red finish on this Suzuki.

After painting, the vehicle could then be reassembled and checked before leaving the bodyshop.

The Finished Result

The difference between the vehicle arriving and the completed repair is substantial.

The damaged and heavily scraped panels have been restored, with the repaired sections blending smoothly into the remainder of the vehicle.

Looking at the finished Suzuki, it is difficult to tell where the original damage had been.

That is exactly what we aim for with every bodywork repair carried out at Paisley Autocare.
